Washington HIV-AIDS epidemic rises - 17 Mar 09 Video

The US capital is suffering an epidemic of HIV and AIDS.

The city's health department says three per cent of residents are living with AIDS, or HIV, a 22 per cent increase since 2006.

It means infections are spreading faster in Washington than in some cities in Africa.

Al Jazeera's Monica Villamizar reports from Washington.

The Virus is HIV first, loss of to many White cells & after a certain amount of years it becomes AIDS. I had a friend who was told he had HIV back in 86 and he was doing fine for up to 5 years after he was told he had it,the guy hardly even caught a cold. In the early 90s they wanted to try a new drug out on ppl and so he was asked to come into the clinic for the drug. I told him something is not right about that and i watched a healthy young? man after starting these drugs break down,his body became sick and he went from 190 down to 98 lbs and he died. Point is this,the drugs are killing ppl.
